No, PDX Peppers is not certified Organic. No chemical inputs or any kind of pesticides (insecticide/herbicide/fungicide) are ever used. Pests are managed by releasing and attracting native beneficial insects to keep pest bugs in check. The plants are fed using using OMRI Certified Inputs and Actively Aerated Compost Teas (AACT).
Peppers have "perfect flowers" and are self-fertile, meaning they do not need pollinators to pollinate them. Although they do not need help to be pollinated, bees and other pollinators will still collect pollen from their flowers and fly from plant to plant. As a result, cross pollination can happen across different cultivars of peppers and lead to unintentional hybrids. To reduce this risk, one can isolate the whole plant or individual flower sites/branches to keep pollinators from transferring pollen from one plant to another. The seeds produced from these flower site would be referred to as Isolated Seeds. The chance of cross pollination taking place with isolated flower sites is near zero. Any seeds produced from flowers that have not been isolated are referred to as Non-Isolated Seeds.
